Asian Blepharoplasty (Double Eyelid Surgery)
Asian blepharoplasty, commonly known as double eyelid surgery, is one of the most popular cosmetic procedures in Asia and among patients from North East India. This procedure creates or enhances the upper eyelid crease, giving the eyes a more defined, open, and expressive appearance while maintaining the natural ethnic beauty of the patient.
Why Is This Procedure Popular in North East India?
Many individuals of East Asian and Mongoloid heritage have a monolid (single eyelid) without a visible crease. This is completely natural, but some patients desire a defined crease for aesthetic or functional reasons. Dr. Amit understands the diverse facial anatomy of North Eastern patients and tailors each procedure to complement individual features.
Procedure Details
The surgery involves creating a crease in the upper eyelid through precise incisions. Dr. Amit may use the incisional method (for longer-lasting results with skin/fat removal) or the non-incisional suture technique (for patients with thinner eyelid skin who desire minimal downtime). The procedure takes approximately 1-2 hours under local anaesthesia.
Recovery
Swelling and mild bruising are common for the first week. Most patients return to work within 7-10 days. Stitches are removed after 5-7 days. The final shape of the eyelid crease settles within 3-6 months.
